Understanding a railway station.
Industrial architecture at its best. Bricks, steel beams, old railroad tracks. Buildings with names such as: „Eingangspackkammer“ (inbound packing chamber), „Abgangspackkammer“ (outbound packing chamber) or „Beutel“ (pouch). This suggests that they have something to do with mail and existed long before the e-commerce boom. The POSTBAHNHOF AM OSTBAHNHOF in Berlin-Friedrichshain is now a monument. For its new appearance, Eqviva must first "understand" and examine the old station down to the last detail. From 2020, an attractive quarter will be created - with loving renovation of the existing buildings, innovative office buildings and open spaces that Berliners will love.

Renovating a railway station.
He's grown old, but he hasn't lost any of his charm: The POSTBAHNHOF AM OSTBAHNHOF in Berlin-Friedrichshain was built in 1907 and was an important logistics centre for parcels until well after the Second World War. Michael's architects are now taking care of the valuable building fabric: The large track hall will be renovated, supplemented by a modern hall and will continue to be used as an event location. The huge Abgangspackkammer (outgoing packing chamber) will be completely modernised and extended. Some companies already have their open-plan offices here today. Among them, as befits a Postbahnhof 2.0, well-known online retailers.

Bringing life to a railway station.
Old birds and new birds flock together. The listed Postbahnhof, will get a new neighbour, a modern commercial building with over 17,000 square metres. Offices, retail and gastronomy will create space for new ideas and great moments. And there is more: The historic outdoor facilities are being redesigned. Similar to the New York "High Line", the brick viaduct will become a pedestian promenade, the locomotive shunting yard a park and the historic water tower a perfect backdrop for the modern design of the new addition. Close to the highly frequented Ostbahnhof, a place is finally being created where passers-by are invited to linger.
